Reflections from an MWC Program Alumni

By an Anonymous Graduate

When I first arrived at Muldersdrift Wellness Centre, I was at a crossroads in my life. Addiction had taken everything—my peace, my relationships, my sense of self. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I needed help. What I found was far more than just treatment. I found healing.

The four-month program  at MWC was immersive and life-changing. It began with a medically supervised detox that helped me safely and gently transition into recovery. From there, I was introduced to a holistic approach that treated not just my addiction, but my entire being—mind, body, and spirit.

The integration of the 12-Step NA model with Islamic principles gave me a spiritual anchor I didn’t know I needed. It wasn’t just about abstaining from substances—it was about reconnecting with my faith, rebuilding my values, and rediscovering my purpose. The spiritual guidance I received helped me find peace in prayer, strength in surrender, and clarity in reflection.

Therapy sessions were intense but necessary. I confronted parts of myself I had long buried, and with the support of compassionate counsellors and peers, I began to heal. The wellness activities—nature walks, mindfulness practices, group outings—reminded me of the beauty of life beyond addiction.

Today, I am not the same person who walked through those gates. I am stronger, more grounded, and filled with hope. MWC didn’t just help me recover—it helped me transform.

To anyone considering this journey: take the step. You are worth the healing. You are worth the peace. And at Muldersdrift Wellness Centre, you’ll find both.
